The first edition of the World Forum of Vocational and Technological Education (FMEPT) took place in 2009 in Brasilia. With the main theme of Education, Development and Inclusion, the event brought together 15,000 people from Brazil and 20 other countries who were willing to take part in the discussion on how to prepare the citizens for the world of work. After five days of a busy program, philosopher Leonardo Boff wrote the Concluding Letter of the 1st FMEPT, a document that summarizes everything that the event represented.

For the second edition of the Forum, the city of Florianópolis - state capital of Santa Catarina - was chosen to host the event to be held from May 28th to June 1st, 2012 at Centrosul. Around 10,000 people are expected to attend.
